Sigalda

We’ve been appointed as architects for the extension of Sigalda, a remarkable hydroelectric power plant located in the breathtaking highlands of Iceland.

Originally designed in 1971 by visionary architects Guðmundur Kr. Kristinsson and Gunnlaugur Halldórsson, Sigalda is a stunning example of brutalist architecture, seamlessly integrated into the raw Icelandic landscape.

Our goal is to preserve the legacy of this iconic structure while designing a thoughtful, timeless extension that complements its surroundings and enhances its functionality.

In collaboration with Landsvirkjun and COWI, we are excited to embark on this journey and look forward to sharing our progress as we contribute to Sigalda’s evolving story.
