We’ve been appointed as architects for the extension of Sigalda, a remarkable hydroelectric power plant located in the breathtaking highlands of Iceland.
Originally designed in 1971 by visionary architects Guðmundur Kr. Kristinsson and Gunnlaugur Halldórsson, Sigalda is a stunning example of brutalist architecture, seamlessly integrated into the raw Icelandic landscape.
Our goal is to preserve the legacy of this iconic structure while designing a thoughtful, timeless extension that complements its surroundings and enhances its functionality.
